Beachwood has a wide variety of housing including single-family homes, cluster homes, and low and high-rise condominiums. Most homes were built in the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’, and 80’s.
Beachwood is known for its award winning school district and has won 3 Blue Ribbon Awards from the US Department of Education. The Blue Ribbon award is considered to be the highest honor that an American school can achieve
Beachwood is continuously ranked amongst the Top 50 schools in Ohio. The school is constantly being renovated and added to, recently an addition was made to the science wing.
The Middle school was recently renovated, and now all students have their own Apple Laptops. Because of its advanced technology and technological advancements it recently won an award from Intel.

Beachwood Place has long been considered northeast Ohio’s premier fashion destination for the best in shopping, entertainment and dining. Beachwood Place has anchor stores of Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and Dillards, along with name brand stores, a food court, and restaurants for fine dining.
La Place, located right next to Beachwood Place is a nice, small, upscale mall located in Beachwood. It has a nice selection of businesses such as Border’s Books, and restaurants such as Sushi Rock, a favorite hot spot, Melange, and Mitchell’s Ice Cream voted Cleveland’s best.
Legacy Village is a lifestyle center located just outside Beachwood in Lyndhurst, and was built within the last 5 years. Legacy Village offers a wide assortment of shops, restaurants and scheduled events that offers fun for everyone. Whether you need to pick up a quick gift for a friend, are looking for a fun-filled day of shopping, planning a business lunch or a fun night out with friends, Legacy Village has it all. Popular stores here are Dick’s Sporting Goods, Nordstrom Rack, Arhaus Furniture,Joseph-Beth Booksellers, Cheescake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, and Starbucks Coffee.
Eton Chagrin Blvd is a located in neighboring Woodmere, just outside of Beachwood and is always a popular place to shop and dine. It has well known stores such as Barnes and Noble, one of the nations largest bookstores and Trader Joes, a store/market known for its organic food selection, extensive and affordable wine department, and fun atmosphere. Eaton also offers fine dining options as well. Village Square Shopping Center, just down the street, rounds out some of the best shopping destinations in the state.
For those looking for a fine dining experience, there is an endless supply of fantastic culinary cuisine located in and around Beachwood area. To start, Giovanni’s located in Beachwood offers upscale Italian food in a formal setting. Generous portions and creative desserts are the norm at Giovanni's and the service is as good as you’ll find.
Moxie, also located in Beachwood is consistently a great place to go for a great night out and is also a popular spot for all the movers and shakers during lunchtime. The atmosphere is upbeat and the crowd is usually loud and lively. Moxie’s sister restaurant Red Steakhouse is known by many to have the best steaks in town.
Hyde Park Steakhouse also located in Beachwood is consistently rated by the Zagat guide as one of the area’s best steakhouses andPacific East Japanese Restaurant, located in Eton Chagrin Blvd offers some of the area’s best sushi. Located right next door isPaladar, one of the area’s hottest restaurants. Paladar offers great atmosphere and a unique menu that you won’t find anywhere else. The food is a mix of Latin Caribbean and Cuban and is sure to please any palate. Paladar is a huge fan favorite of the Schuman Team.
Beachwood Place Mall offers two of the most popular national restaurants in Maggiano’s andMcCormick and Schmick’s. Maggiano’s offers upscale family style Italian food with great offerings and an atmosphere to match. Whether you go in a small group or sit down with a large gathering, bring your appetite because the portions are more than generous. McCormick and Schmick’s specialized in fresh seafood and offers just about every type of fish imaginable prepared just to your liking.
If you are looking for the best deli in the area, Corky and Lenny’s, located just outside Beachwood in neighboring Woodmere, is famous for its food not only in Cleveland but throughout the country. Dignitaries, politicians and a lot of regular folks make a point to stop in to Corky and Lenny’s whenever they are in the neighborhood. In fact, many drive from far distances just to get a taste of one of the countries best delis.
Located on Chagrin Blvd in Beachwood, Shuhei, known for serving some of the best sushi in the area, is yet another well-known restaurant in the area.
For a fun family experience, The Winking Lizard Tavern located in Bedford remains one of the most popular places to go as they offer great food at affordable prices and a fun atmosphere. While known for the award-winning bar-b-q sauce on their chicken and ribs, all of the food on their extensive menu is great. Plus, it is one of the most kid friendly restaurants in the area. They also offer multiple big screen TVs for watching sporting events and just about any kind of beer imaginable, so adults enjoy it just as much as the kids. Everybody loves the Winking Lizard and they also offer take-out and catering.
While we have shown there is no shortage of great food in and around Beachwood, those looking for a fine dining experience can find an endless supply of fantastic culinary cuisine within a 20-30 minute drive. To start, The Leopard Restaurant, located inside the luxurious Bertram Inn in nearby Aurora offers an award-winning menu and has won 5 consecutive 4-Diamond awards. Blue Canyon in Twinsburg offers a fine dining experience in a unique atmosphere inside and is one of the most popular places to dine in the summer as the outdoor patio and bar area is packed on most weekend evenings.
Nearby Chagrin Falls is home to one the area’s finest restaurants. Gamekeeper’s Tavern is located in the heart of Chagrin Falls and offers cozy fireside dining along with an award winning outdoor courtyard. The great food, unique atmosphere and great service keep any patron coming back. A consistently great dining experience.
Recreation & Activities
Preston’s H.O.P.E. ( Helping Others Play and Enjoy ), located in Beachwood, is aplayground designed to allow children with a variety of disabilities to play with their families and other children, the first such playground in Northeast Ohio. The 60,000 square feet playground is packed with play structures on multiple levels connected by ramps. Activity panels with lively motion activated music are found throughout on walls, pathways, and on play structures.
The Mandel Jewish Community Center of Cleveland (JCC) is a popular place to exercise indoors and out.
Beachwood also has a new state-of-the art Family Aquatic Center. Tennis Courts are located nearby as well as a playground.
Beachwood also has a beautiful City Park which has 1.6 mi of trails perfect for bicycling, walking, and running.
The Beachwood Recreation Community Theater puts on fantastic performances such as the Wizard of Oz.
Beachwood also has a beautiful new Community Center providing residents and community groups space to hold meetings and functions.
Beachwood is also home to the new Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage.
The Beachwood branch of the library is conveniently located at 25501 Shaker Boulevard.
In 1960, Beachwood attained "City" status, with the census showing a population of 6,089. Today, the City covers an area of about six square miles, and has a population of more than 12,186. Beachwood offers prime location as it is located just minutes from the highway and offers great shopping and hotels making it ideal for business travelers and as a destination spot for visitors.
During the day, however, the Beachwood population is close to 50,000 as it features a thriving business community fostered by special efforts made by the City and the Beachwood Chamber of Commerce. The large business presence helps to keep property tax in Beachwood among the lowest in the area.
