Pepper Pike is a small city located in Eastern Cuyahoga County. It was founded in 1924 and covers approximately 7 miles. Recreation Pepper Pike Park was dedicated in 1999 and contains playground equipment, picnic tables and benches, a volleyball court, and an ice rink. Nearby Orange Village has a 52 acre park which includes nature preserves with a half mile of paved trails, two baseball fields with bleachers and back stops, an ice skating area, tether ball, volleyball, and two tot lots with picnic pavilions, tables and grills, as well as a newer municipal facility. The Orange Village Community Park’s playground is very popular with young children and is located off Pike Drive, just off Lander Road. There are also great parks close to Pepper Pike. Nearby Solon offers great parks and playgrounds.
Preston’s H.O.P.E. ( Helping Others Play and Enjoy ), located in nearby Beachwood, offers local children another alternative to the Orange Park playground. This particular playground is designed to allow children with a variety of disabilities to play with their families and other children, the first such playground in Northeast Ohio. The 60,000 square feet playground is packed with play structures on multiple levels connected by ramps. Activity panels with lively motion activated music are found throughout on walls, pathways, and on play structures.
Exercise and Fitness The Mandel Jewish Communiyt Center of Cleveland (JCC) is a popular place to exercise indoors and out. During the summer, Hiram House Camp is located just minutes away from Pepper Pike and is a very popular place for local children to go to summer camp. La Place, located right next to Beachwood Place is a nice, small, upscale mall located in Beachwood. Eton Chagrin Blvd is located in neighboring Woodmere, just outside of Pepper Pike and is always a popular place to shop. It has well known stores such as Barnes and Noble, one of the nation’s largest bookstores and Trader Joes, a store/market known for its organic food selection, extensive and affordable wine department, and fun atmosphere. Eaton also offers fine dining options as well. Village Square Shopping Center, just down the street, rounds out some of the best shopping destinations in the state. For those looking for a fine dining experience, there is an endless supply of fantastic culinary cuisine located in and around the Pepper Pike area. To start, Giovanni’s located in Beachwood offers upscale Italian food in a formal setting. Generous portions and creative desserts are the norm at Giovanni's and the service is as good as you’ll find. Moxie, also located in Beachwood is consistently a great place to go for a great night out and is also a popular spot for all the movers and shakers during lunchtime. The atmosphere is upbeat and the crowd is usually loud and lively. Moxie’s sister restaurant Red Steakhouse is known by many to have the best steaks in town. Hyde Park Steakhouse located in Beachwood is consistently rated by the Zagat guide as one of the area’s best steakhouses, Marabella located in Pepper Pike is known for having outstanding Spanish food and Peppermint Tai Cuisine offers great Tai food and is located in Landerbrook Plaza in Pepper Pike.
Eaton Chagrin Blvd shopping center, located just outside of Orange, offers numerous great restaurants such as Pacific East Japanese Restaurant. Located right next door is Paladar, one of the area’s hottest restaurants. Paladar offers great atmosphere and a unique menu that you won’t find anywhere else. The food is a mix of Latin Caribbean and Cuban and is sure to please any palate. Paladar is a huge fan favorite of the Schuman Team. Beachwood Place Mall offers two of the most popular national restaurants in Maggiano’s and McCormick and Schmick’s. Maggiano’s offers upscale family style Italian food with great offerings and an atmosphere to match. Whether you go in a small group or sit down with a large gathering, bring your appetite because the portions are more than generous. McCormick and Schmick’s specialized in fresh seafood and offers just about every type of fish imaginable prepared just to your liking. If you are looking for the best deli in the area, Corky and Lenny’s, located just outside Pepper Pike in Village Square Shopping Center in Woodmere, is famous for its food not only in Cleveland but throughout the country. Dignitaries, politicians and a lot of regular folks make a point to stop in to Corky and Lenny’s whenever they are in the neighborhood. In fact, many drive from far distances just to get a taste of one of the countries best delis.
A great place for breakfast is The Original Pancake House located on Chagrin Boulevard. The portions are huge so go hungry. For a fun family experience, The Winking Lizard Tavern located in Bedford remains one of the most popular places to go as they offer great food at affordable prices and a fun atmosphere. While known for the award-winning bar-b-q sauce on their chicken and ribs, all of the food on their extensive menu is great. Plus, it is one of the most kid friendly restaurants in the area.
